He was predeceased by: his wife Joan; his grandson Daniel; his brother Frank; and his parents, Francis X. Mooney and Margaret Mooney.

He is survived by: his sons, Joe (Diane) and Tom (Mary); his grandchildren, Lauren (Tom), Tom (Mollie), Matt (Lyndsay) and Ashley (John); and his siblings, Margaret and Robert. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
