It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Trulear (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), who passed away on November 23, 2019, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Douglas Burton, Sr. and Eva Lee Powers Burton of Wildwood, NJ.; her former husband Mitchell Smith; her husband Charles F. Trulear, IV; her brother Leon Powers; her stepchildren, Calvin Smith (Herta), Charles Trulear (Skip) and Susan Trulear Hale; her son-in-law Duane Hale; her grandchildren, Charles Trulear, VI, Daniel Trulear, Vanessa Hale and Aliyah Hale; her siblings, Sonia Porter and Douglas Burton, Jr.; and her nieces, Chan Burton, Faith Nicole Burton, Catresa Meyers (Cookie) and Juanita Meyers. She was also cherished by caregiver for her mother and her in-laws.

“I was told about the passing of the decease. I'd I am correct did she teach at Thomas Dunlap elementary school on 51st and Race in West Philadelphia. She was my 4th grade teacher. Do you know if there was a teacher who signed who was there a teachers by the name of Brown and Burton.”
