Scott Charles Davis Obituary

Scott Charles Davis, 67, originally of Oreland, PA, passed away in Philadelphia, PA on Friday September 15, 2023, several days after suffering a severe head trauma. Born on October 6, 1955, in Abington, PA, Scott was the son of Rothmeyer "Roddy" Kemp Davis and the late Diane Robertson Davis.

Scott is survived by his father, Rothmeyer "Roddy" K. Davis; two sisters, Bonny S. Davis and Ginger L. Agnew (John); four nieces, Jenna Solomon, Morgan Agnew (Al Brown), Shannon Agnew (Caleb Agnew), and Erin Agnew (Omeed Firouzi) ; one nephew, Jeremy Solomon (Joy); three great-nieces, one great-nephew, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and fans. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted mother, Diane R. Davis.

Scott earned the rank of Eagle Scout while he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 411. He was a 1973 graduate of Springfield (MontCo) High School in Erdenheim, PA. In 1978 He graduated from West Chester University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Scott grew up in Oreland, PA, lived in many places throughout his life and, at the time of his death, he resided with Melody Jackson in Mount Airy (Philadelphia) PA.

Scott dedicated his life to teaching. For over 55 years, he shared his knowledge and passion for music with countless students. He taught piano and guitar as well as many other musical instruments. Scott had perfect pitch and for 45 years that made him an exceptional piano tuner. Scott was a substitute High School History teacher for various school districts. During the 40 years he was a political activist, Scott fearlessly advocated for change, sharing his ideas with Local, State, and Federal elected officials.

Most of all, Scott was a talented and prolific songwriter, who often stopped what he was doing to write down songs that popped into his head on the closest scrap of paper or a nearby paper napkin. If he wasn't playing his own songs, he covered the songs of his favorite group, The Beatles. He would perform for large crowds or just an audience of one. You could find him singing at an event, in someone's home, on the street, or on You-Tube @scottdavis9118.

Scott marched to a different drummer and had a genius IQ. Since the day he was born, he always had a thirst for knowledge and he was constantly learning and teaching numerous languages, studying geography, history, and cartography.

No funeral or memorial services are planned at this time. Scott's family has chosen to honor his memory by donating his organs, tissues, and body to Gift of Life and Anatomy Gifts. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Gift of Life Donor Program at 401 North 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123 (https://www.giftoflife.org) or to Shane's Kindness c/o The Halligan family at 301 Integrity Ave. Oreland, PA 19075 (https://shaneskindness.com).
