He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Beverly Hilty (Heyworth); his children, James David and Carol Lynn Sauer (Hilty); and his sister Elizabeth Yacubian (Hilty). He was also cherished by grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Choral and Music Program or the Endowment Fund at Westminster Church.
