He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbert Sims and Margaret Sims; and his siblings, William, Norman, Robert, John, Edward, Gordan Sims and Gladys Williams.
He is survived by: his sons, Gary Sims (Valerie) and James Sims; his grandchildren, Rebecca and David (Brittany Coleman); his great grandchild David "D. J."; and his sister Doris Furlong.
