It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John C. Schmertz (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), who passed away on November 22, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Robert, Mildred and Gretchen Jacob. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Godfrey Schmertz; his children, Johanna (Delray Beach) of Houston, Sara of Edgewood, Amelia (Francesco Cerrai) of Philadelphia and Robert of Greenbelt, MD; his grandson Leo Cerrai; his nephew Rob Jacob; his great-niece Maura Jacob; and his nephew Matthew Jacob. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
