He was predeceased by: his wife Gail Brandtner Kolesar; and his siblings, Mary Vatral, Anna Szybowicz, Helen Menin, Margaret Ciganek, John, Andrew Kolesar, George Jopinko and Stephen Kolesar.
He is survived by: his children, Larisa Thomas (Tom) and John Kolesar (Kim); his grandchildren, Rebecca, Christopher Thomas and Brent Kolesar; his partner Jean Smith; and his partner's daughter Sharon Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
