He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Cristina Ortega Valdes; his children, Cristina Maria Valdes, Oscar, Carlos and José; his parents, Gervasio and Angela; and his sister Elena. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Unfortunately, his daughter, Cristina Maria, would also pass away near the beginning of the pandemic.
