He was predeceased by: his former wife Judy Bales; his sons, Scott Sheldon Bales and Steven Scott Bales; his parent Hyman Bales (Sarah Tzfanis); and his grandparent Chananie Belfer (Fannie Weinstein).
He is survived by: his wife Arlene Bales of Pittsburgh; his children, Michael Bales and Debbie Bales Gardner (Mike); his sisters, Ruth Kramer and Yvette Adelsberg Levy; his stepchildren, Suzy Eppling (John) and Jay Goldberg (Natalie); his grandchild Dori Gardner; his great grandchild Caleb; his grandchildren, Kim Eppling, Zachery, Marco and Aden Goldberg; and his son Master Plumbers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital or Humane Animal Rescue.
