He was predeceased by: his child James E. Hays, Sr.; and his sibling Shirley. He is survived by: his spouse Jean E. Hays (Rostek); his children, William A. Hays (Cheryl), David J. Hays (Jeannette), Diane Woodward (Lloyd) and Maryann Barringer (late James); and his siblings, Audrey Stepanovich, Jacqueline Hays Komidar, Carol and Sandra. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
