Marilyn Lucille Harkness Wheeler Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marilyn Lucille Harkness Wheeler of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania, born in East Smithfield, Pennsylvania, who passed away on August 25, 2020 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Manley Harkness and Catherine Harkness (Gates); her husband Donald G. Wheeler; her brother Robert Harkness; and her siblings-in-law, Marjorie Harkness, Francis Wheeler, Evelyn Tubbs Wheeler and Marilyn K. Wheeler Tidlow.
She is survived by: her sons, Lyle B. Wheeler of Millers Creek, NC and Leigh D. Wheeler (Ethel) of State College, PA; her grandchildren, Kelsey Schissel (Pete) of Asheville, NC, Brian Wheeler (Chrystal) of State College, PA, Harold W. J. Wheeler (Summer) of Fuquay Varina, NC and Karen Jones (Adam) of Brooklyn, NY; her great grandchildren, William Edward Wheeler of North Carolina and Haleigh Jade Wheeler of North Carolina; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Wheeler (Marie) of Nichols, NY and Jack Tidlow. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
Due to the current public health situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public visitation, with instead a private graveside service at the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Athens United Methodist Church, 118 S. Main St., Athens, PA, 18810 , with a notation for the church organ restoration fund, or The Oaks at Pleasant Gap, 200 Rachel Drive, Pleasant Gap, PA, 16823, with attention to the Benevolent Care Fund.
