He was predeceased by : his parents, Franz O. Gustafson and Ella A. Anderson Gustafson; his wife Muriel C. Conner; and his siblings, Donald Gustafson, Edna Gustafson, Melvina Lowery, Anna Goodnoe and Alene "Susie" Hilton.

He is survived by : his children, James D. Gustafson (Laurel) of Port Allegany, Mark C. Gustafson (Linda) of Port Allegany, William F. Gustafson (Patricia) of Hummelstown, PA and Nancy L. Nelson (Brian) of Carisle, PA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
