He was predeceased by : his parents, George J. Smith and Lottie Mowery Smith; his former life partner Virginia L. Bells; and his siblings, Carson, William, Randall, John Smith, Viola Redington, Marie Bickford, Flossie Bosworth, Ora Barber, Lottie Boorum and Billie Chandler.
He is survived by : his wife Hilda E. Varney Schroll; his children, Roy Smith, Jr. (Gail) of Port Allegany, Michael A. Smith of Port Allegany, Darla Bailey (Tom) of Port Allegany, Ramona Follett (Clark) of Olean, NY and Karen Baker (Ted) of Carthage, NY; his stepson Kirk M. Schroll of Port Allegany; and his sister-in-law Mary Smith of Richburg, NY.
