He was predeceased by: his sister-in-law Rebecca Fitzgerald. He is survived by: his husband Corey A. Krantz of Portland; his mother Elaine Reynolds Fitzgerald of Raleigh, N. C.; and his siblings, Janice Mowery (Kent) of Wilmington, N. C., Patrick Fitzgerald of Erie and Susan Komnath (Steve) of Raleigh, N. C.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation in Portland, http://www.xerces.org.
