He was predeceased by: his parent Ernest Messer; his wife Margaret; his son-in-law James Skarbek; his siblings, George, Gerald, Clyde Messer, Gertrude McKanus and Hazel MacDonald; and his grandson John Mays.
He is survived by: his parent Laura Messer (Kienle); and his children, Ronald Messer (Dori), Geraldine Roussey (Don) and Irene Skarbek. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren who called him Pop-Pop. Fritz is also survived by 7 in-laws and many, many nieces and nephews.
