He is survived by: his parents, Margaret Heil (Fern) and Michael Fern; his son Michael D. Fern Jr.; his wife Michelle Fern of Brewer; his grandchildren, Matthew S. Fern (Meranda) and Marshall D. Fern; and also Steven H. Fern (Sarah) of Middleburg. He is also survived by his wife, two children, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
