He was predeceased by: his wife Valerie S. Smoyer; his parents, Donald H. Smoyer Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Smoyer (Overholtzer); and his brother Joseph Ronald Smoyer. He is survived by: his children, Jeremy Smoyer, Thomas Smoyer, Nate Smoyer and Jessie Smoyer; his stepchildren, Meghan Large and Ryan Large; and his brother Donald Smoyer Jr..
