He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick McGovern and Mary Farrell McGovern; and his siblings, Robert, Joseph McGovern, Elizabeth Schwalm and Patricia O'Brien.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Mihalski; his daughters, Heather Shutter (Aron) and Holly McGovern; his granddaughter Abigail Shutter; and his siblings, Mary Colleen Wade (William), Dolores Faust (Gary), Thomas McGovern (Carol), Geralyn McGovern and Baltimore (Gregory McGovern). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
