Carl N. Larsen Obituary

Carl Norman Larsen was born April 29th 1943, in Salt Lake City Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Carl was a proud Eagle Scout. At the age of nineteen he served a two year mission in Arizona with the Navajo people. Carl loved their culture so much he learned to speak Navajo. Carl always joked that when he came home from his mission his parents didn't recognize him. He really loved their fried bread. Shortly after his mission Carl met the love of his life Ruth Anne Ollis.

He only knew her for a week before he proposed but he knew she was the one on their very first date. Ruth and Carl were married two months later on March 8th 1965 in the Logan Utah Temple. Ten months later they welcomed their first son Darren followed by their son Jay four years later. In 1989 the Larsen family was blessed with two more sons, Robert and Steven Larsen, Carl's nephews. The Larsen's raised their family in New Jersey, where Carl won many awards for his needle work and added to both his coin and Marilyn Monroe collections.

After their house burned down in Jersey, Carl and Ruth bought their forever home in Pennsylvania. Carl loved Pottsville but he loved being a part of the Branch the most. Carl served as the Branch clerk for many years. Carl was always meticulous in everything he did including all his church callings. He loved kids and was a big kid at heart. He always had a joke ready in his pocket at all times and a soda in his hand. Carl kept his sense of humor till the very end. Carl was a doting husband and loving father.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, eight grand kids and one great grandson. He is also survived by his two brothers, Richard and Steven Sr. (California) and his unofficially adopted three grandkids. Carl will be greatly missed but he is now reunited with his son Darren, his two brothers and a great grandson son. We will forever hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in heaven. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Carl's funeral service on Monday, November 6, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints, 2530 Stinson Lane, Norristown, PA at 11:30 AM.

Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting. His viewing will be held Monday morning from 10:30 AM at the church.
