He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Bruce and Anna Bruce (Wintersteen); his daughter Lisa Swenson; and his siblings, Charles, Robert and Betty Clark.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Bruce (Crawford); and his children, Kathleen Caudill (Eddie) of Kennett Square, James L., Jr. (Rissa) of Crozet, VA, Karen Scherer (Rick) of Cochranville, Linda Conway (Bobby) of Ocean View, DE and Bruce Akerley (Becky) of Quarryville. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
