He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard McCoy, Sr. and Caroline McCoy (Reichert); his sisters, Edith Marie Ambs (William) and Margaret "Peg" Rooney (Vincent); and his nephews, Stephen Ambs, Vincent Rooney and Paul Rooney.

He is survived by: his sibling's children, Caroline Niesley, Jr. (Charles), Leonard Rooney and Thomas Rooney (Gyorgyi Hajdu). He is also survived by father to his sisters' children.
