He was predeceased by : his parents, Olin Irey and Mae Irey (Overdorf); his brother Dennis Irey; and his grandson Shane Hedl. He is survived by : his wife Karen; his children, Jennifer Hedl (Bill), Michelle Lambert, Eric Irey (Donna), Sean Irey (Jennifer), Jeff Stapleton (Debbie) and Dean Stapleton (Terry); and his sister Diane Lambert (Don).
