He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sarah "Sally" Karras (Trimble); his children, James, Jr. (Nancy), Brian (Michele) and Dana Karras; and his granddaughters, Rachel Karras (Michael Dodin), Elizabeth Karras and Laura McClure (Ben).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church or the Mt. Lebanon Public Library.
