He was predeceased by: his parents, William Saar and Louise Houser Saar; his sons, Kenneth and Lawrence Saar; and his brother-in-law William Reap.
He is survived by: his children, Barbara Lynott (Michael), Susan Saar, Tina Kohanski (Louis), Debbie Saar, June Godlewski (Jared), William E. Saar (Elena Bartczak), John Saar (Theresa), Jeffrey Saar (Debbie) and Stephen (Jackie); his stepchildren, Mary Jean Wolfe (Tom), Angela Grow (John), Carol Ann McDonald (Norm), Carmen Russoniello (Ruth Ann) and Vincent Russoniello (Colette); his daughters-in-law, Janet Saar and Debbie Saar Havrilko; and his sisters, June Marie Saar (Owen Costello) and Sylvia Louise Reap. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; several nieces nephews.
