He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Buchanan and Susan Buchanan (Klingensmith); his former wife Sherry L. Vanditta; his siblings, Sandra Jennings and Edward Buchanan; and his close friend Dawn Caldwell.
He is survived by: his children, David Buchanan Jr., Brian Buchanan (Lisa), Steven Caldwell (Dawn), Jeffrey Caldwell (Darlene) and Renae Buchanan (Randy Shuttleworth). He is also survived by his fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren.
