He was predeceased by: his parents, Ambrose Hess and Sallie Hess (Eshbach); and his siblings, Lester, Alfred, Lloyd, Nevin, William, Robert, Calvin, Martha, Ida and Mary.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon N. Hess (Snavely); his children, Rochelle Fink (Kenneth Fink), Renee L. Bentley (Hess), David J. Hess Jr. (Brenda Degler), Craig J. Hess (Janet) and Scott A. Hess (Tracy); his grandchildren, Timothy, Jacqueline and Katie; his great grandchildren, Alexis and Hannah; and his brother John Hess.
