He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dorothy McGovern (Bullman) and Peter McGovern; his wife Jane (LaGrossa); his children, Jane Jolly (George), James, Jr. McGovern (Megan) and Sherryann McGovern (Armando Chavarria); his grandchildren, Nicholas McGovern (Jessica Brittell), Samantha, Katherine Jolly and Jerry Broll; and his brothers, Jerry, Richard (Marlene) and John (Mary).

In lieu of flowers, the McGovern family has requested.
