He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Leyde and Jane Leyde (Garhart); and his siblings, Patricia Dougherty and Frank E. "Teddy" Leyde. He is survived by: his wife Melissa A. Peiper; his siblings, Deborah Revoal (Walter) of Denver, David M. Leyde (Debra) of Sharon and Thomas Leyde of State College; his brother-in-law Thomas Dougherty of Baden; and his siblings' children, Peter Dougherty (Jennifer), Katy Ake (Lawrence), Kevin Dougherty (Megan), Alex Revoal, Rebecca Green (Jason), David C. Leyde (Nikki), Patrick Leyde (Brittney), Erin Hassan (Joseph), Jeffrey Simmons (Tessa), Alayna Simmons, Jessica Blasko, Brian Leyde, Laura Leyde (Nico), Karen Leyde (Sergi) and Chris. He is also survived by 17 great nieces and nephews.
