He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Steele and Irene Steele; and his sister Peggy MacCrone (Jim). He is survived by: his wife Marianne K. Steele; his children, Kim Craddock (Mike), Pam McCoach (Brian), Bob Steele (Alessandra) and Jon Steele (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Alyssa Steele, Ava Craddock, Tyler, Andrew, Allyson, Jack McCoach, Sienna, Gavin, Melina Steele and Hannah Steele; and his brother Joseph Steele (Dot). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
