He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie M. Findley and Floyd Dora Findley (Shaffer); and his siblings, Archie, Raymond, Dean, Lee, Mildred, Gayle, Ruth, Doris and Carole.
He is survived by: his wife Veda Rupe; his children, Lisa Findley of Emmittsburg, MD., Brenda Findley and Walter Gene, Jr. (Mollie); his grandchildren, Caitlin, Nicole (Josh Planck), Aaron, Dillon, Ryan, Walt, Kelcie, Allison, Katrina and Julia; his great grandchild Madelyn; his brother Ken (Rosie Findley); and his siblings-in-law, Art Marsh, Mary Findley, Joanne (Guy Fredieu), Linda Rupe and Betty Rupe.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
