He was predeceased by: his sister Mary Anne Brown (Ron); his brother-in-law Tom Fulmer; his daughter Debbie Layne; his sons-in-law, Paul Yater and Bill Carson; and his mother-in-law Celie Verholtz.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his siblings, Bruce Smith (Janet) and Peggy Fulmer; his children, Margaret Fredrickson (Robert), Linda Carson, Marilee Smith (Jane) and Patrick Smith; his grandchildren, Colin Smith, Courtney Dick (Drew), Martin Yater and Zac Yater; and his father-in-law Don Verholtz.
