Mary P. (Gaus) Bassett Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary P. (Gaus) Bassett (Waynesboro, Pennsylvania), born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, who passed away on June 7, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Margaret Gaus, and Carl J. Gaus, Sr.; her husband Buck; and her brothers, Monsignor Arnold, Carl, James, John, Bede, Edward and Robert Gaus.
She is survived by: her children, Marilyn Oberhardt (Fred) of Arlington, MA and Matthew Oberhardt (Tara) of Truckee, CA; her stepdaughters, Sarah Wilhelm of Swarthmore, PA, Jennifer Brown (Greg) of Rokville, MD and Joanna Snow (John) of La Plata, MD; her brother Raymond Gaus (June) of Denver, CO; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara Gaus of Brecksville, OH and Mary Gaus of Watertown, NY. She is also survived by two grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home (50 S Broad St, Waynesboro, PA 17268). A rosary will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 7:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Andrew the Apostle Church (12 N Broad St, Waynesboro, PA 17268).
