He was predeceased by: his parents, Dane Mefford and Ruth Morris Mefford; his wife Delores Mefford; his son Edward Mefford; and his grandson Eddy Spitznogle.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Mefford, Wayne Lee Mefford, Jr., Mark Collins of Texas, Kimberly Holbert of Bobtown, PA, Judy Orndoff of Waynesburg and Karen Spitznogle of Mt. Morris; and his siblings, Dane "Bub" Mefford of Morgantown, David Mefford of Morgantown, Randy Mefford of Morgantown, Donna Nolf, Linda Johnson and Ruth Kilionski. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
