He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Dempsey and Celeste Dempsey; and his siblings, Irvin and Maxine. He is survived by: his wife Janice A. Dempsey; his children, Michelle L. Dempsey, Joseph M. Dempsey (Julie Pierce) and Amity M. Dempsey (Grant Glick); his grandchildren, Simon, Nathan, Jordan, Bryan and Aaron Dempsey; and his brother Raymond.
