Vincent Buckwash Obituary
Vincent Buckwash, 90 of West Chester, PA died Monday July 17, 2023 at his home in West Chester.
He was the husband of Annette M. Buckwash (Zacker).
Born January 14, 1933, in Marion Heights, PA he was the son of the late Alexander Buckwash and the late Anna Brasco Buckwash.
Vince grew up in Marion Heights, PA and graduated from Kulpmont High School's Class of '5l. He then served in US Army where he was stationed at Fort Dix in NJ. After which he attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College where he earned a BS in Education.
In 1959, Vincent accepted a teaching position at Unionville High School which brought him and Toni to West Chester, PA. Early in his teaching career, Vince earned a master's degree in physics from West Chester State University. He taught High School Physics for 34 years and until retiring 1992. "Mr. Buckwash" was a beloved teacher and mentor to many students who, to this day, share the many special, and often formative, moments and the impact he had on their lives and careers.
Vince enjoyed hunting, woodworking, gardening, and was a member of the American Legion. He was curious by nature which often led to experimentation and invention. Many of the items found around the house are homemade in his elaborate basement workshop.
He was an avid storyteller and loved nothing more than to share his life experiences with anyone willing to listen. Always the teacher, Vince shared his many areas of expertise to others and most importantly with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Toni, Vince is survived by daughters, Anne Davis and Eileen Laffan. Sons, Vincent Jr. and Anthony. And five grandchildren Eric Davis, Megan Laffan, Caroline Davis, Claire Laffan and Zack Buckwash. And sisters: Ana, Helen, Marilyn, Michaeline and Sandra.
He was preceded in death by his father Alexander, mother Anna, brother Joe and sister Marie.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380 and his Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester PA 19380.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery West Chester, PA.
