He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Miller and Pearl Catherine Dougherty (Burtner); his wife Celia J. "Cil" Dougherty (Edwards); and his siblings, Nevin, Charles Dougherty, Mabel Willard and Doris Stewart.
He is survived by: his children, Herb Dougherty Jr. (Andi) of Jeannette, Marty Dougherty (Vicki) of Westmoreland City and Kim Brentzel (Curtis); his grandchildren, Tabitha, Matt Wybiral, Jason, Heather Brentzel, Aaron, Christina Dougherty, Heather Dougherty, Danielle, Justin Kosnosky, Arlie, Chris McLaren and Blaine Brentzel; his great grandchildren, Hayden, Thomas, Logan, Connor, Jaxon, Cole and Calan; and his siblings, Clemens Dougherty and Ruth Burtner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
