He was predeceased by: his parents, Bob Shanahan and Tess Shanahan; and his brother James "Shamus". He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Jo Shanahan of Whitehall, Jack Shanahan (Chris) of Baldwin, Barb Riley (Dan) of Mt. Lebanon, Tom Shanahan (Cheryl) of Bethel Park and Robert E. Jr. "Ziggy"; his nieces and nephews, Jon Shanahan (Sofia), Lauren Riley, Katie Smith (Elliot), Ashley (Sam), Meghan, Alyssa, Justin, Jimmy and Tom Shanahan; his sibling-in-law Kim Shanahan; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jon James, Jane, Aiofe Shanahan, Emmet Smith and Samson Adeshina.
Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p. m. where a blessing service will be held in the Chapel on Friday at 11:00 a. m. Due to the current public health crisis, masks and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.
