He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Mertz and Ruth Kurlansky Mertz. He is survived by: his son Jacob Mertz of Wilkes-Barre; his brother Barry (Faye); his siblings' children, Scott Mertz and Dr. Michelle Mertz (Julie); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Micah Mertz and Maya Mertz; his sister Linda Mertz Cohen; his siblings' child Marley Tannenbaum (David); his great-nephews, Zachery and Ezra; and his wife Carolyn Mertz of Wilkes-Barre.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the West Pittston Jewish Cemetery (22 Wilkern St, Exeter, PA 18643).
