He was predeceased by: his niece Ivy Jo Jacobs. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy E. Silk-Dettinger; his nephew Aaron Jacobs (Abby) of York; his nieces, Leah Schade (Jim) of Lexington, KY and Pearl Pickens (Mike) of York; and his sister-in-law Peggy Jacobs of York. He is also survived by two great nephews; five great nieces; and brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
