She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Louis Serling and Jeanette Serling; her brother Jim Serling (Cis); her children, Ann Mermelstein (Key West), David Mermelstein (Dana) of Washington, D. C. and Jane Mermelstein (San Francisco); and her grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob Mermelstein, Laura and George Escobar (Key West).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Deborah's memory can be made to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Southern Poverty Law Center, organizations which Deborah supported throughout her life.
