He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen H. Gardner and Etta M. Gardner (Brillhart); his wife Mary Gardner (Schmuck); and his son Carl F. Gardner. He is survived by: his sons, Thomas M. Gardner (Linda) of Red Lion and James W. Gardner, Jr. (Sharon) of Sebastian, FL; his daughter-in-law Cynthia "Cindy" Gardner of York; his sister Anna Lee Stambaugh of Spring Grove; his grandchildren, Michael Gardner (Britt), Matthew Gardner, Theresa Sleight, Virginia Smeltzer (Kevin), Andrew Gardner (Melissa) and Elliot Gardner (Krista); his great grandchildren, Clea, Tylar, Nora, Clark, Michelina and Coen; and his nephew Mark Garrett.
