He was predeceased by: his parent Paul R.. He is survived by: his spouse Carole L. Alwood (Kauffman); his parent Mary E. Alwood (Hershey); and his children, Elizabeth Ann Alwood of York, Gary Alwood of York and Jason Alwood (Jenni) of York. He is also survived by six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church.
