He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Wendt and Minnie L. Wendt (Wyant); and his siblings, Horace, Philip and Janet Shive.
He is survived by: his spouse Shelby J. Wendt (Miller); his children, John L. Wendt (Robin), Jim A. Wendt and Kelly J. Ruck; and his brother Dale A. Wendt. He is also survived by three grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
