He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edna Dennis (Purcell) and Richard Murphy; his wife Paula R. Murphy; his son Jason Murphy of Fall River; his stepdaughters, Wendy Botelho of Somerset and Kimberly Ramsay of Bristol, R. I.; his grandchildren, Cheyenne, Alexandra, Dylan Murphy of Fall River and Devon Wiggins of Nantucket; his stepgrandchildren, Cameron, Christopher, Kelsey Botelho of Somerset, Ashley and Kiley Ramsay of Bristol, R. I.; his great grandchild Justin Dennis Arruda Jr. of Bristol, R. I.; and his sisters, Kathleen M. Arruda of Westport and MaryEllen Montville of Fall River. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews as well as his beloved aunts and uncles.
