He was predeceased by : his wife Dorothy (Hopkins); his parents, Oswald Keener and Irmgard Keener (Feige); and his siblings, Fred Keener, Marion Johnson and Mildred Keener.
He is survived by : his children, Richard Keener Jr., Kevin Keener, Linda DePalma, Sandra Smith and Joyce Breton; and his great great grandchild Gavin Griswold. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to American Cancer Society.
