He was predeceased by: his wife Eleanor Placella (Gardella); his parents, Michael J. Placella Sr. and Jeanette Placella (Rossi); and his sibling Benedict "Benny" Placella. He is survived by: his pet Oscar; his children, Michael J. Placella III (Laurie) of Fiskdale, MA, Geralyn Miller (George) of Littleton, MA, Catherine Catterson (Dan) of Cranston and Stephanie McDonough (Hugh) of Littleton, MA.; his grandchildren, Michael, Gino Placella, Daniel, David Catterson, Angela, Richele Miller, Lee and Sam McDonough; his great grandchild Anna Bamberg; and his sisters, Angela Capasso of West Warwick, Anne Formicola and Dolores Iannuccilli.
