He was predeceased by: his spouse Antonetta Matarese (Tomao); his parents, Filippo Matarese and Anna Matarese (Calise); and his sister Mary Neri. He is survived by: his niece Arlene (Ronald); and his brothers, Gino and Peter Matarese.
