He was predeceased by: his spouse Dorothy E. Stanis (Harper); his parent Anthony Stanis; his sibling Joseph Stanis; and also Nancy Short Stanis (Harper). He is survived by: his parent Helen Stanis (Uczkuronis); his children, Christine E. Huber of North Carolina, Dorothy M. Darcy of North Kingstown, Michael A. Stanis of Virginia and Stephen J. Stanis of East Providence; and his siblings, Helen Reynolds, Stella Araujo and Jennie R. Kachanis.
