He was predeceased by : his significant other Adelaide Richards (Crandall); his parents, George Richards and Sarah Richards; and his siblings, Eugene Richards, Charles Richards, Dorse Richards, Christine Richards Lane, Hazel Richards, Ruth Richards Prestwood, Laura Richards and Kathleen Richards Melton.

He is survived by : his children, Lori O'Donnell (Gino) of Westerly and Dale Richards (June) of Wallingford, CT; his grandchildren, Erica Green (Jacob), Ryan O'Donnell, Scott Richards (Tali) and Jennifer Scott (Graeme); and his great grandchildren, Nolan, Addison Green, Lia and Benjamin Richards.
