He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Evans Botts; his parents, Hubert McCord Botts, Sr. and Leslie Wilson Botts; his son Michael Evans Botts; and his brother Thomas Brooks Botts.

He is survived by: his daughter Susan Botts Chisholm of Mauldin; his grandchildren, Katherine C. Horton (Guy) of Madrid, Spain and Duncan Chisholm of Los Alamos; and his great grandchildren, Thomas McCord Horton, Henry Steel Horton and William Blakely Horton.
